Renée Treml grew up in the United States and as a result is fascinated with Australia’s wildlife and culture. Renée’s stories and illustrations are inspired by nature and influenced by her background in environmental science. She has written and illustrated several picture books including One Very Tired Wombat (shortlisted for the CBCA 2013 Crichton Award for New Illustrator), Once I Heard a Little Wombat(2016 Speech Pathology Book of the Year Award Birth – 3 years; 2016 Environment Award for Children’s Literature Picture Fiction) and Ten Little Owls (2017 CBCA Notable Book). Renée also creates illustrations for a wide range of products including fine art prints, stationery, ceramics, tea towels and more. Her current pet project is a graphic novel for children that features a delightfully unusual main character.
